Reformer Classes

At Retro Pilates, we offer a full body workout on the sleek & stylish, state of the art ‘Allegro 2 Reformers'.

The springs, coupled with your own body weight will serve to challenge your core, balance, coordination, stability and flexibility.

With thoughtful instructions and guidance from our certified instructors, you will flow though a series of exercises that strengthen and tone your body from top to bottom…all while jamming out to some groovy retro tunes!

The “INRO TO RETRO” class focuses on familiarizing students with the mechanics of the reformer, the basics of Pilates, and emphasizes the importance of form and technique. If you are brand new to Pilates, it is recommended that you try one of these classes before signing up for an “ALL LEVELS” class.

The “ALL LEVELS” class is designed for anyone and everyone! It invites all body types and levels of Pilates experience, as long as you are aware of the reformer and your limits. This class is challenging! However, you can modify as needed.

The “MAT MIX” classes are for All Levels. They combine the traditional mat method with the Pilates reformer. Expect to get a full body workout on both the mat and the reformer apparatus!

“RETRO RECOVERY”- This restorative Pilates class honors Joseph Pilates' goal of returning the human body back to "normal health". Through breath (a person's very first pattern of movement in life), you'll experience the teaching method that blends preparatory exercises from the contemporary Pilates approach, mobility exercises and stretches that are inspired by modern day biomechanics.

“DANCE a’ LOTTIES”- This fun filled Dance/Pilates mix class is suitable for all levels of both dance and Pilates. You will experience a cardio-BLAST with light choreography-to music of the PAST! Then, you'll focus on strengthening, lengthening, toning and tightening on the amazing Allegro 2 Pilates reformer. Think, Zumba meets Pilates- fun, energetic and upbeat!

“ABS, ARMS, ASS”- All levels are welcome to enjoy this sweaty class! It's all about dem abs, arms, and...peaches! 'nuf said!

“UPPER BODY- ALL LEVELS”- !

Pilates is a full- body exercise. However, this class is designed to provide an additional emphasis on the upper body. This is a great class to couple with a lower body class on other scheduled days/times. It is also an awesome boost to any other workout regimen in which you are currently engaging. Expect more resistance and/or repetitions with bungees, spring loads or bands. Push ups and planks may likely be included! This class is a great way to tone and strengthen arms, backs, and chests.

“LOWER BODY- ALL LEVELS”- Pilates is an all- body exercise. However, this class is designed to have a special emphasis on lower body; so if you are combining your Pilates practice with another exercise regiment such a running or boot camp, you can plan your workout schedule accordingly.

Expect a lot of lunges, squats and other effective reformer exercises for toning, tightening, and strengthening the lower body!

Jump Board

Some of our reformer classes will incorporate the Jump Board! It is a fun and creative way to jump start your day and kick up that cardio. With this padded spring loaded board, we can burn fat, tone/ tighten our legs & booty, and build our endurance and stamina.

This metabolic aspect of our training contributes to a strong heart and healthy lungs. The low impact keeps us from strenuous pressure on our joints. Pilates is an excellent exercise on its own, but it certainly compliments other sports and athletic endeavors.
